RNSG 1125 Psychiatric Nursing: Mental Health Promotion Maintenance, and Restoration Across the Lifespan

This course is designed to provide an introduction to professional nursing, the nursing process, health promotion, maintenance and restoration across the lifespan with alterations in mental health. The focus is on nurse-client therapeutic relationships and behavioral and emotional responses to selected interpersonal, intrapersonal, and extra-personal physiological and psychological alterations. Mental health, mental illness, and neuropathology are viewed in the context of growth and development of clients across the life span. Emphasis is placed on knowledge and skills in therapeutic communication, assessment, psychopharmacology, therapeutic techniques and interventions.
