Financial Assistance

Financial assistance from Federal and state sources is available to qualified students. Students receiving Federal and/or state financial aid must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 and complete at least 66.66 percent of scheduled credits (cumulative). Students enrolled in associate degree programs and receiving the HOPE scholarship must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 at certain checkpoints. Students receiving the Zell Miller Scholarship must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.3 at certain checkpoints. Students receiving the Zell Miller Grant must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on HOPE-paid hours at the end of each term.

Students are ineligible for any financial aid (federal or state) if they fall under any of the following categories:

  1. In default on a previous educational loan or owe a refund on any grant/loan.
  2. Enrolled as a special-admit student.
  3. Enrolled in a business and industry training course or any course that does not lead to a degree, diploma, or certificate.

Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov to apply for all Federal and state financial aid.  The average Columbus Technical College processing time is two to three weeks when all information is submitted correctly and in a timely manner.
