Campus Law Enforcement

Safety and security efforts on the campus are coordinated by the Columbus Technical College Chief of Police. The Chief and his officers are Georgia POST certified Peace Officers. They have full arrest powers, carry firearms and enforce Georgia Criminal Law. CTC Campus Police have police authority to apprehend and arrest anyone involved in illegal acts on campus and areas immediately adjacent to the campus. Routine occurrences such as traffic accidents, thefts and damage to property investigations' will be conducted CTC Campus Police.

The most serious of offenses such as rape, murder, and aggravated assault may be investigated by the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbus Police Department or the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, at the discretion of the CTC Chief of Police.  Every effort is made to solve these serious felony crimes through cooperative efforts of local law enforcement officers and Campus Police.

If minor offenses involving college rules and regulations are committed by a student Campus Police Officers may also make a disciplinary referral to the Vice President of Student Affairs.

The Police Department, located in Patrick Hall, is open from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and during scheduled Friday and weekend activities. Duties of the Police officers include, but not limited to the following:

  1. Patrolling the campus for hazardous conditions and unusual activity.
  2. Enforcing the rules regarding motor vehicles on campus: parking, speeding, etc.
  3. Assisting with problems encountered in the buildings, grounds, or parking lots.
  4. Completing reports for accidents, injuries, and criminal incidents.
  5. Assisting in building inspections for safety compliance.
  6. Assisting with response to campus emergencies such as fire, tornado, etc.
