International- Student Admission Requirements
International students must meet all new-student admission requirements.
Applicants must present original documentation certifying immigrant or non-immigrant status (permanent resident alien card, visa, passport, etc.).
High school (secondary) transcripts or diplomas must be evaluated by the document-by- document evaluation method. These records must show completion of secondary-school education comparable to a U.S. high school diploma.
Students with college credit or a degree from a college or university outside the United States must submit a course-by-course evaluation of the transcript.

Applicants must submit proof of English proficiency by presenting any one of the following:
- SAT score of 450 (Verbal or Critical Reading).
- ACT score of 18 (English).
- ACCUPLACER scores of 55 (Reading Comprehension) and 60 (Sentence Skills).
- ASSET scores of 33 (Reading) and 32 (Writing).
Columbus Technical College is approved to issue I-20 forms leading to an M-1 or an F-1 student visa. International applicants who want Columbus Technical College to issue an I-20 so that they can enter the U.S. under a student visa must present the following:
- A completed International Admission Application Form.
- Official transcripts from high school (or GED) and all colleges attended. All international transcripts must be evaluated by an approved evaluation service and sent directly to Columbus Technical College.
- Test results from SAT, ACT, ACCUPLACER, or ASSET taken in the English language within the last five years (60 months).
- Documentation proving financial solvency or support during the applicant’s projected period of study.
- Test results from TOEFL if English is not the primary language, must have 500 or higher on the written test, 173 or higher on the computerized version, or 61 on the internet version.
When the College grants admission, it will issue an I-20 and send it to the student. The student will then present the I-20 to the U.S. Embassy in his or her home country so that he or she can apply for a student visa.
Non-resident aliens, M-1 or F-1 visa students, diplomatic, consular, mission, and other non-immigrant applicants are advised that tuition will be four times the in-state tuition rate.
M-1 students are not authorized to accept any employment except for approved practical training after their program of study is complete.
